Alderwoman Alisha Sonnier

Throughout her entire life, Alisha has been called to serve the public. Experiencing rebirth as an organizer through the ashes of the Ferguson Uprising and serving as a member of the St. Louis Public Schools Board of Education have been life changing and transformative: these service-focused leadership roles have molded Alisha, shaped her, and allowed her to see the world and our city as she never did before.

Alisha knows that our city can sometimes feel like it has been built only for those who already have a secure and stable place in it - and we see this in our lack of investment in youth and families, in insufficient affordable family housing, and in struggling small businesses still recovering from the global pandemic.

The time for effective, reflective, innovative, visionary, people-centered, critical consciousness leadership is now. Alisha is asking for your support in becoming the Alder for the Seventh Ward because she knows that our city and our communities can be and do better, because she knows that the new Seventh Ward is a place for everyone. Not some of us but all of us.

Why this campaign is #PoweredByMOPolitical: Alisha's path to public service has been a profoundly inspiring one, and our team is excited to be working with young, visionary voices like hers in fighting for a St. Louis that is equitable, accessible, and serves the needs of all of its residents.
