Leslie Derrington is a proud stay-at-home mother and progressive advocate whose real-life experience informs her perspective on how our state government should be serving Missouri families. A mom first, Leslie’s fight to be a voice for her daughter led her to politics. From the Missouri legislature to Washington, D.C., Leslie has advocated for life-changing and lifesaving treatments for children, affordable and accessible healthcare, and environmental issues.

Bret narayan, aLDERMAN OF THE 4th Ward

Bret believes in working hard to make the democratic process accessible. Before becoming Alderman of the 24th Ward, Bret worked with his brother as an attorney at Narayan Attorneys at Law. Bret’s work primarily focused on helping small businesses and “mom and pop shops,” but also included criminal defense work on behalf of homeless and low-income veterans.

 

Alisha Sonnier, Alderwoman of the 7th Ward

Alisha is very community oriented, and is no stranger to St. Louis politics. She was appointed to serve on the St. Louis Public Schools Board in May 2021 by Mayor Tishaura O. Jones to replace our very own Adam Layne as he ascended to the Treasurer’s Office, making her the youngest public official in the City of St. Louis. She is ready to take on a new assignment as Alderwoman of the 7th Ward.

 

Michael Browning, ALDERMAN OF THE 9TH WARD

Michael is dedicated to the work, and has showed up over the years for countless progressive candidates and knocks more doors than almost any person we know. He shows up, not just for himself but for his friends and neighbors. This time it is his turn, and we’ve got his back in this fight to become the Alderman of the new 9th Ward.

Clean Missouri

MO Political provided fundraising support for Clean Missouri’s 2018 campaign to pass Amendment 1. The Amendment — which prioritized campaign finance reform and an end to gerrymandering — passed with overwhelming support in November of 2018.

Joe Diekemper, for 17th Ward Alderman

MO Political joined Joe Diekemper in his 2017 primary race to represent St. Louis City’s 17th Ward. A nurse, father, and avid bike rider, Joe had an incredible time meeting hundreds of 17th Ward voters at their doors while working to make his community a better place. Joe brought a fresh perspective to city politics, advocating for putting people ahead of politically-motivated giveaways, and smarter development in the name of a more equitable St. Louis.

 

Empower Missouri

The team at MOPC is proud to have partnered with Empower Missouri, helping them spread their message and conduct outreach through virtual engagement. Empower Missouri works to secure basic human needs and equal justice for every person in the state of Missouri through coalition-building and advocacy. Empower envisions a Missouri in which all people have food, shelter, and justice, and we were excited to provide support in making that vision a reality.

Vicki Englund, for Missouri State Treasurer

MO Political was excited to work with Vicki Lorenz Englund as she worked to flip the Missouri State Treasurer’s seat blue! With over 20 years of public policy experience, Vicki had the ideas and drive to improve the Treasurer's Office and save taxpayer dollars for Missourians.

 

Tonya Finley-McCaw, For 22nd Ward Alderwoman

A lifelong leader within her community, Tonya Finley-McCaw has been an advocate for reproductive freedom, the public school system, livable wages, diverting crime within the city, and providing safe spaces for youth development. Tonya Finley-McCaw is an active member of the grassroots campaign Moms Demand Action, aiming to reduce gun violence.

Sam Gladney, for Missouri House District 87

MO Political worked alongside Sam Gladney in his 2018 Primary Campaign in District 87. Inspired by his history of service and commitment to “do better” for his constituents, MO Political supported Sam through an aggressive field campaign and targeted fundraising efforts.

 

Darlene Green, for Comptroller of the City of St. Louis

MOPC worked alongside Darlene Green in her 2017 bid for re-election as comptroller in St. Louis City. Green was successful both in her primary bid, and in the general election that followed on April 4th, 2017. Darlene won with 83 percent of all of the votes in the city of Saint Louis.

Melissa Greenstein, FOr house district 101

As a mom, Navy spouse, former teacher and longtime volunteer for progressive causes, Melissa Greenstein knows what good government looks like, and she’s determined to make that vision a reality for the people of Missouri. That’s why our team is so proud to have supported Melissa in her race for Missouri HD101, knocking tens of thousands of doors across the district, offering fundraising management, and providing direct mail services.

 

Trish Gunby, for Missouri Congressional District 2

Whether she’s meeting with constituents or advocacy groups, attending committee meetings or hearing debate and voting on the House floor, Trish listens with intent, educates herself on the issues, and works hard for the people she represents - not just for herself. MOPC provided campaign management, fundraising support, field strategy, and general consultation on Trish’s campaign for Congress in MO-02.

Sunni Hutton, for 20th Ward Alderwoman

When Sunni Hutton entered into politics, it was with a deep desire to change the status quo of St. Louis’ 20th Ward. Sunni’s commitment to equity and political engagement in her community inspired us to join her in fighting for a better tomorrow in one of St. Louis’ most politically depressed wards. In her 2019 campaign for Alderwoman, MO Political provided Sunni with the tools to actualize her dream, providing both field and fundraising support over the course of the primary season.

 

Mike Labozzetta, for Missouri House District 99

MO Political joined Mike LaBozzetta’s fight for District 99 in the 2018 general election cycle. MOPC provided Mike with fundraising support, as well as a sweeping field program which brought Mike’s sharp mind and articulate defenses of progressive positions to the doors of hundreds of constituents.

Jaylin Mcclinton, for 5th district cook county commissioner

MO Political joined Team Jaylin to assist with fundraising efforts for his 2022 campaign for 5th District Cook County Commissioner. Jaylin was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side and continues to live in the community. He has seen how the area continues to be neglected and has done the work in many different capacities to effect positive change. Jaylin is ready to step into the role of County Commissioner to take that change and accountability to the next level.

 

Tyler Merkel, for Missouri House District 83

A resident of the Maplewood area for over a decade, Tyler Merkel had a deep commitment to the place that he calls home. Tyler knew his friends and neighbors deserved just, competent policy-making that would strengthen our educational institutions, healthcare system, and labor standards. MO Political was proud to work with him to bring that principled position to the halls of Jeff City — on behalf of District 83, and every citizen of the state of Missouri.

MISSOURI DEMOCRATIC PARTY

From 2016 to 2018, MO Political provided fundraising services for the Missouri Democratic Party, helping to ensure critical financial assistance for democratic candidates across the state.

 

Missouri House Victory Committee

During the 2018 general election cycle, MO Political worked in cooperation with the Missouri House Victory Committee to provide field services across multiple contested districts.

National Women’s Political Caucus

The National Women's Political Caucus is a multi-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women’s participation in the political process. The NWPC recruits, trains and supports pro-choice women candidates for elected and appointed offices at all levels of government. MO Political worked to provide the NWPC with digital outreach tools, including online event facilitation.

 

No on 3, Defending Clean Missouri

The Clean Missouri Amendment passed by an almost 2-to-1 margin in 2018, after a year-long signature gathering effort by Missouri citizens and a statewide campaign. The fair map reforms in Amendment 1 earned endorsements from Republican, Independent, and Democratic reformers — and endorsements from every major anti-gerrymandering organization. MO Political was proud to work with No On 3 to defend Clean Missouri, and stop Missouri from going backwards with backroom deals and rigged maps.

James has dedicated himself to doing the work for his friends and neighbors - to making sure that businesses and residents alike can flourish within our city. His dedication to integrity, equity, and compassion is at that heart of everything he does.

 

Helen PETTY, FOR 5TH WARD ALDERWOMAN

Helen is a mother, small business owner, and activist. Her passion to fight for equity comes from hardships she has faced personally throughout her life, such as experiencing homelessness as a youth, watching both of her parents fall victim to the prison system, and becoming a single mother at a young age struggling to find resources. Helen is ready to turn a new leaf in the new 5th Ward and provide representation that makes sure all residents are thriving and not just surviving!

Pro-Choice Missouri

MO Political is proud to work alongside Pro-Choice Missouri in their mission, providing its staff and board with development and skills training, fundraising expertise to further their work in guaranteeing reproductive health, rights, and justice for every Missourian.

 

Ready by 5

Annie Rice, 8th Ward Alderwoman

MO Political Consulting partnered with Ready By 5 to assist in supporting St. Louis area public schools. The early childhood education system in St. Louis is woefully underfunded, causing families to carry most of the financial burden. We know this work is not just candidate based, it’s about ballot initiatives like the ones Ready by 5 is fighting for that support the next generation and build a better future for everyone.

We’ve had Annie’s back since she was first elected, working with her again during her successful re-election campaign in March 2019. Annie believes the City of St. Louis needs leadership that is willing to make hard decisions, to challenge business as usual, and to cultivate a vision so everyone is working towards a common goal.

 

Martin Rucker, for Missouri Senate District 34

Matt Sain, for Missouri House District 14

A former College All-American and NFL Veteran, Martin Rucker II has game that goes well beyond the football field. A strong advocate for organized labor and educational excellence, Martin ran in 2018 for Missouri State Senate in District 34. MO Political reached across the state to join him, providing field and fundraising expertise, as well as event coordination across multiple cities.

When Matt Sain announced his intention to upend Republican control of the 14th District north of Kansas City, MOPC reached out across the state to offer its support. Matt’s big ideas and commitment to “a brighter future for Missouri,” combined with our logistical support, proved enough to carry him over the finish line in the 2018 general election.

 

Bernie Sanders, 2020 Presidential Primary

Jill Schupp, for Missouri Senate District 24

During the 2020 Presidential Primary, MO Political was proud to partner with Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders to conduct voter contact in St. Louis. Our team coordinated outreach efforts that knocked over 40,000 doors for Bernie, bringing his progressive vision to voters across the metro region.

Members of the MO Political team worked with Jill Schupp during her first race for State Senate, helping to propel the former Representative to victory in District 24. In 2014 this seat was a flip from red to blue and one of the only democratic wins in Missouri that November.

 

Lindsey Simmons, for Missouri Congressional District 4

Lindsey pulled no punches when it comes to holding Republicans accountable, and she threw herself into this fight on day one. She was committed to exposing the greed, hypocrisy, and lack of accountability that her opponent has built a career upon.

Stacy Siwak, for Clayton School Board

As a former educator and mother of three children in the Clayton School District, Stacy was a natural choice for school board. Stacy’s commitment to quality education for all students — especially those with distinct learning needs — and her unflagging support for master’s educators convinced MOPC that she was not only a natural choice, but the right one. We provided Stacy with campaign-building support and a comprehensive field program, which allowed her to carry a plurality of the vote in a three-way election for Clayton’s two open School Board seats.

 

Vote Run Lead

With more than 30,000 women trained to run for office, VoteRunLead is the largest and most diverse leadership program in the United States. By empowering women with the skills and knowledge necessary to make successful bids for political office, VoteRunLead aims to transform American democracy. MOPC partnered with VoteRunLead to bring a #RunAsYouAre national training and conference to the City of St. Louis in May of 2019.

yes on proposition 1

Proposition 1 is a bond issue of $50 million to support St. Louis Infrastructure. It passed with over 84% of the vote to provide general obligations funds to make necessary infrastructure improvements, such as resurfacing, repaving, and repairing our city’s streets; designing and constructing pedestrian and bicycle transportation facilities; replacing, renovating, and maintaining buildings, bridges, and equipment of the City of St. Louis; and providing much-needed repairs to our city-owned recreation centers and firehouses, and public safety facilities.

 

YES ON PROPOSITION C

Proposition C created a process for a Charter Commission to convene every 10 years to review the City Charter. Before Proposition C, the City Charter was created in 1914 and had no comprehensive updates for 109 years. Prop C adds a recurring, inclusive process for a dedicated group of citizens to focus and listen to the people about what may need to be changed.
