Mayor Tishaura O. Jones

The first black woman to serve as the mayor of st. louis,

Tishaura Jones grew up in St. Louis, and she graduated from Hampton University before earning her MPH at SLU. She is a Delta Sigma Theta sister and also completed the State and Local Government program at Harvard Kennedy School. Mayor Jones also served as the Treasurer of St. Louis from 2013-2021, opening a location of Operation HOPE, a financial literacy nonprofit, inside of City Hall, and created the College Kids program.

Mayor Jones became mayor in April 2021, and since then, has put in the work to transform the city. An opponent of incrementalism, Jones has committed to transformational work, and she had made reimagining public safety a priority: in her first year, homicides dropped 25% in St. Louis. She has spoken out and worked against systemic racism and inequality, and has already made a big difference for our city.
